Add more sun protection – to any helmet.

Most helmets don’t come with a visor — and if they do, it’s rarely big enough to be useful. That becomes a real problem during events like the 2-day Coast to Coast, where you’re paddling straight into the rising sun for the first 25km. The harsh rays are brutal. You squint, lose sight of the braids, and miss a key channel. Now you’re beached, frustrated, and nursing a headache. At Canterbury Kayaking, we see paddlers struggle in the glare on nearly every Guided Trip. That’s why we recommend the Salamander Universal Helmet Visor to every Coast to Coast paddler we work with. It attaches easily to any helmet using the included Velcro kit — no tools needed — and provides real shade that stays put, even in whitewater. Lightweight, secure, and surprisingly effective, it helps you see the horizon clearly when good visibility matters most. Don’t let the sun cost you your line. Upgrade your helmet with a visor that actually works.

  • Attaches to almost any helmet using included Velcro kit (no tools required)
  • Strong adhesive strip for a reliable hold even in whitewater
  • Large visor provides more sun protection than most built-in visors
  • Lightweight closed-cell foam core provides stiffness and prevents sagging
  • 600D poly-cloth exterior for durability
  • Visor shapped so it can be flipped up and out of the way when not needed
  • Material: Closed cell foam sandwiched by 600 Denier poly-cloth
  • Attachment: Tenacious Velcro installation kit
  • Beak Measurements: 9.75″ wide (24.8 cm) and 3″ deep (7.6 cm)

Helmet Visor

A simple but great bit of kit, a must for going down the river, so much easier and more comfortable than wearing a cap under your helmet.
Thanks Sam and Will, you are a great team, thanks for all the good tips and advice.
Kieron.
