Cancellation Policy for Waimakariri Gorge Trips

Cancellation and reschedule eligibility is based solely on the amount of notice you provide and is strictly upheld.

Cancelling Your Trip

    Notice Period Eligibility

    Within 24 hours of placing your booking.

    100% refund.

    More than 14 days notice prior to your trip.
    75% refund.

    Between 14 - 7 days notice prior to your trip.

    50% refund.

    Less than 7 days notice prior to your trip (or during).

    No refunds or credits will be issued.

    Rescheduling Your Trip

      Reschedule free of charge.

      More than 14 days notice prior to your trip.

      Reschedule free of charge.

      Between 14 - 7 days notice prior to your trip. $30 rescheduling fee.

      Less than 7 days notice prior to your trip (or during).

      You cannot reschedule.

      International Bookings

      If you are travelling from overseas, we cannot accept any responsibility for your inability to attend due to border/travel restrictions arising as a result from the COVID-19 pandemic. You will be subject to the same cancellation policy as our local customers.

      Trips Called off due to Weather or Flow

      Our Waimakariri Gorge Trips are weather-dependant and we may be forced to call a trip off at any stage, even the morning of your trip.

      If we have to call your trip off due to weather or flows then you will receive a 75% refund (processed back to your original payment method).

      The remaining 25% fee is retained by Canterbury Kayaking and is non-refundable. This helps us recover some of expenses incurred while making your trip attempt possible (eg. guiding staff, driving staff, rented vehicles, administration, payment processing, registration, compliance, and safety costs).

      Without this policy, offering weather-dependant trips would not be financially viable for us.

      Other Possible Scenarios

      Though unlikely, if we have to cancel your trip due to an unforeseeable event such as a staffing/logistical issue, natural disaster, pandemic, or New Zealand COVID-19 alert level restrictions, you will be rescheduled to a new date free of charge. If we are unable to reschedule your booking, a credit will be held in your name for later redemption. You will not eligible for a refund.

      No refunds or reschedules will be provided in the event of injury, illness, equipment failure, lack of fitness, or ability.

      Canterbury Kayaking may decline booking requests to any individual at the sole discretion of the manager.
