Cancellation & Refund Policy for Grade 2 Certificate Courses

50% Deposit Option

If you wish to secure your course booking with a deposit rather than paying in full, you can do so by using the coupon code DEPOSIT during checkout.

Once you have submitted your booking and deposit payment through our website, we will email you an invoice for the remaining balance of your trip fees. Full payment is due no later than 14 days prior to your course start date to remain booked on.

Weather & Flows

Our Grade 2 Certificate Courses run regardless of weather and flow conditions. If the weather or river-flows in Canterbury prevent your course from running to the original plan, your instructor will establish an alternative plan. This may involve travelling to our alternative location of Murchison for days 2, 3, & 4. Canterbury Kayaking accepts no responsibility for any additional costs incurred (such as fuel, food, or accommodation) due to these circumstances.

Rescheduling Your Course

It may be possible for you to reschedule your course booking, based solely on the amount of notice you provide:

    Notice Period Eligibility

    Within 24 hours of booking.

    Reschedule free of charge.

    More than 28 days notice prior to course start. Reschedule free of charge.

    Between 28 - 14 days notice prior to course start.

    $50 rescheduling fee.

    Less than 14 days notice prior to course start (or during).

    You cannot reschedule.

    Cancelling Your Course

    It may be possible for you to cancel your course booking, based solely on the amount of notice you provide:

      Notice Period Eligibility

      Within 24 hours of booking.

      Full refund minus 3% payment processing fee.

      More than 28 days notice prior to course start. 75% refund or credit of the full course fee.

      Between 28 - 14 days notice prior to course start.

      50% refund or credit of the full course fee.

      Less than 14 days notice prior to trip (or during).

      No refunds or credits will be issued.

      Other Possible Scenarios

      Though unlikely, if we have to cancel your course due to a staffing issue, logistical problem, natural disaster, pandemic, COVID-19 alert levels within NZ, etc., you will be rescheduled to a new date free of charge. Refund requests in these circumstances will be assessed by Canterbury Kayaking and approved on a case-by-case basis.

      If you are travelling from overseas, we do not accept any responsibility for your inability to attend due to boarder/travel restrictions arising as a result from the COVID-19 pandemic.

      No refunds or reschedules will provided in the event of injury, illness, equipment failure, lack of fitness, or ability.

      Canterbury Kayaking may decline booking requests to any individual at the sole discretion of the manager.
